I was honestly hoping for more from this book - I have a lot of respect for the brand and by association, it’s CEO - perhaps this is meant to be something of an introductory text to the basics?

This book is awesome.

The book has a lot more information on taking care of your face and body than I expected. It is essentially a how-to guide on everything relating to facial and body care and it’s made me more conscious of taking care of myself as whole. There is a section for every type of man which is good because you may want to look super polished one day but more casual another day. Beyond the regular grooming, the book also gives some tips on how to stay energized and motivated with some cool motivational interviews mixed in. I especially liked the “life hacks” which give you some useful tricks when you’re traveling or just need to look your best in a hurry.

Great book, lots of useful information.

The strength of MANMADE is how easy and accessible the book is in approach to its grooming content and presentation design. It’s a beautiful volume. But more important is how it frames grooming as an essential component of modern living for men. Not simply a ‘guide book of tips,’ MANMADE considers a number of lifestyles men lead or roles men take on and matches simple grooming regimens that make the individual feeling and looking their best. This is supplemented by interviews of men who embody such roles and lifestyles, providing personal insight into the author’s thesis: that grooming is the nexus of personal health, style, and identity. And Chris Salgardo’s MANMADE is a compelling argument for such a worldview.

Here is what you will find in this book: basic, vague, feel-good advice, magazine-like single-sentence tips & tricks.Here is what you will not find in this book:* how to determine your skin type or* what haircuts look good on you* how to shave or choose razors/trimmers* specific product recommendations, not even what chemicals to look for in the products or what to avoid* any arguments, proof or scientific research why you need to moisturize or apply sunscreen* no photos of protected/unprotected skin over a span of several years or any other examples, only stock photos of male modelsHis advice on how to determine your skin type: go to a dermatologist.His advice for choosing a haircut: go to a stylist.His advice what to do if you are bald or are getting bald: go to a stylist and ask what's best.There are no examples of haircuts on different shapes of heads, there are no photos that compare what haircuts look good and bad on balding men. His advice for grooming your hair is to use shampoo, conditioner and go to a barber every three weeks. He covers shaving by advising you to shave with the grain, always use a sharp razor and use beard oils, go to a barber and... that's it.What's worse, the book is repetitive. He addresses specific grooming needs for several types of lifestyles... except the advice you'll read is the same. I read about moisturizing and "eye cream with an SPF of no less than 50" eight times.This book looks like a magazine, not a book.This book was given me as a gift for Christmas. I really wanted to like this book so as to not hurt the feelings of the person who gave it to me. There's "reference" in the title, but the book is practically useless. I'd ask for a refund if I could.

Psychiatric Rehabilitation has grown tremendously as a field since the 1999 publication of the first edition. With increased funding, evidence-based practice guidelines, a certification program, and increased academic programs at both graduate and undergraduate levels, the volume of new information on the topic required a new edition.
Psychiatric Rehabilitation, 2e was written explicitly to appeal as a course text for classes in this rapidly growing field. New to the second edition are sections added to each chapter on evidence-based practices, as well as future research directions and two new chapters.

The book follows a logical progression from an introduction to the field, to the symptoms and etiology of severe mental illness, to course, treatment, and outcome of severe and persisitent mental illness. The book discusses the goals, values, and guiding principles of psychiatric rehabilitation, methods utilized, day programming, and case management. A new chapter discusses the issues of dual diagnosis for substance abuse and mental illness. About the Author
Carlos W. Pratt, PhD, CPRP, is Professor, and Director of the PhD Program in Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions, School of Health Related Professions, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. The program he helped establish and directs is the first to offer the doctoral degree in this emerging field. He completed his BA at Glassboro State College in New Jersey and his MA at Teachers College, Columbia University. After many years providing services for persons with severe mental illness he completed his PhD at Hofstra University. In addition to numerous conference presentations and book chapters, he has authored articles in Journal of Psychosocial Nursing, Occupational Therapy in Mental Health, OT Practice, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal, Community Mental Health Journal, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Skills and Rehabilitation Education. He is a Commissioner of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP) Commission and a past President of the New Jersey Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association.

Nora Barrett is an Associate Professor in the Rutgers Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions and Director of the Bachelor of Science Degree program in Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Psychology. She is responsible for overseeing the program’s curriculum and ensuring that it reflects current best practices in the field. She has more than 20 years of experience teaching psychiatric rehabilitation courses. She frequently presents at conferences, provides consultation and training on topics such as individualized recovery planning and ethical practice, and has published a number of articles. She has served on the Board of the United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association and its New Jersey affiliate, NJPRA. She is also a founding member of the Consortium of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Educators. She is an active advocate for recovery-oriented services and the credentialing of psychiatric rehabilitation providers. Professor Barrett also worked for more than a decade as a direct practitioner, clinical supervisor and mental health administrator.

Melissa M. Roberts, PhD, CPRP is a Professor and Director of the Integrated Employment Institute (IEI) in the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. As Director of IEI she oversees the development and delivery of training and technical assistance designed to improve employment services for people with psychiatric disabilities. Additionally, she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in career services, organizational management, and supervision. She has presented workshops and trainings at conferences throughout the United States and in Canada and Europe. Dr. Roberts has extensive experience in the development and delivery of exemplary services. She has provided training to hundreds of service providers, consumers and families. Dr. Roberts is a recipient of the NJ APSE Rebecca McDonald Leadership Award, the NJPRA Mort Gati Award for a career that exemplifies the principles of psychiatric rehabilitation, and the UMDNJ Excellence in Research award.

Swapan Basu has over 35 years international experience in power, offshore & process plants Instrumentation & Control Engineering. He has a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics &Telecommunication Engineering from B.E. College (Calcutta University), India and a Masters from BITS Pilani, India in Project Engineering. Since 1979 he has practiced Instrumentation & Controls mainly in Power, Cement and Offshore drilling plants. He has experience in design as well as commissioning engineering jobs for instrumentation. Basu is the author of Power Plant Instrumentation and Control Handbook and currently leads a team of engineers at Systems and Control, Kolkata, India on various international projects.

Ajay Kumar Debnath is Chief Executive, Systems and Controls, Control and Instrumentation Engineering and Consulting Kolkata, India. He has practiced both electrical and C&I system in power plants and textile and fertilizer plants.
