About the Author
Dr. Stephen K. Reed received his B.S. in psychology from the University of Wisconsin in 1966 and his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1970. Dr. Reed has enjoyed many years of teaching experience, first at Case Western University from 1971-1980 and then at Florida Atlantic University from 1980-1988. Currently Dr. Reed is a professor of psychology and also a member of the Center for Research in Mathematics and Science Education at San Diego State University. With grants offered in part from NIMH, the National Science Foundation, and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Dr. Reed's research on problem solving has been extensively published in such journals as Cognition and Instruction, Cognitive Psychology, The Journal of Experimental Psychology, Learning, Memory and Cognition, and Memory and Cognition. He has also authored numerous articles and books, including PSYCHOLOGICAL PROCESSES IN PATTERN RECOGNITION (Academic Press, 1973) and WORD PROBLEMS: RESEARCH AND CURRICULUM REFORM (Erlbaum, 1999).

This book presents A LOT of narrative material per chapter and throws a little practice in at the end of each chapter. By chapter 6, I was frustrated and started looking ahead to the end of the chapter without wading through so much text. When instructions on what to do with one of the sample files didn't work no matter what I did, I dropped it in favor of Project 2013-The Missing Manual.

Students major in Accounting, Biology, Communication, Criminal Justice, English, Management, Math, Psychology, and Social Science, Two of them sit together, and work out the details in step-by-step fashion.The exercises at the end of each chapter is great. I recommend this book to everyone.

Reading sucks and it especially sucks when you have to read this for school. The book is clearly written by someone who has never actually worked in law enforcement, but sure had a lot of education and probably likes to tell people about their PhD. If you're reading this book it's because you're taking a graduate level course. Sorry.

This book has terrible organization and structure, it skips around and repeats itself but never seems to get to the point. The first chapter is practically the authors way of trying to justify why he organized the book the way he did. The author also makes it a point to give a lot of background information on subject that have nothing to do with the topic. It was very difficult to follow, and if the book didn't repeat itself as much as it did, it could have been shorter and still covered the entire topic with the information supplied.

I purchased this for class and have referenced it several times since.

I wasn't a huge fan of this book. The way it was laid out was rather odd, but it served it's purpose in my Comparative Criminal Justice Systems class.

Needed this book for a college class. Great condition. Great read. A class I learned a lot in, but personally not my favorite course.

Great approach to the study of comparative legal and criminal justice systems.

Not much to say other than this was the book that my instructor had required for class. It was in great condition and beats the campus bookstore price.

Let’s just say there’s a whole school of thought that says Alexander didn’t like hair on his face for the same reason Narcissus didn’t like ripples in the water—it got in the way of the view.

Upon seeing him fresh-shaven, lots of people raised their eyebrows, but nobody raised a stink. You just didn’t do that to the guy who kicked the world’s ass. In fact, Alexander started a craze and soon everyone was going bare faced.
